Shadow Police Minister David Hanson MP responding to risks to frontline police services, said:
“The first priority of any Government should be to protect the public and if these cuts are implemented there will be fewer police officers on the beat. With Labour crime fell by 43 per cent and this is now being put under threat.
“We have already identified significant savings that can be made by police forces without cutting the number of officers on the beat. As the Police Federation acknowledges, by cutting too quickly there is a real prospect that crime will rise.”
