Commenting on OECD Report, Education at a Glance 2010, published today (7 September 2010), Labour's Shadow Business, Innovation and Skills Secretary, Pat McFadden said:
“This report shows that the statements from Conservative and Lib Dem Ministers that we don’t need to send so many people to university are deeply shortsighted.
“Since the election they have continually attacked Labour’s ambition to give more people access to Higher Education not only on grounds of cost but on grounds of principle.
“That is completely wrong and attacking participation in Higher Education not only cuts back on opportunity for young people but it’s also bad for the future of our economy.”
